  • Designing systems
  • MEP electrical engineers design systems for lighting, power, wiring, motors, generators, elevators, and fire alarms. They consider factors such as safety, code regulations, cost-effectiveness, and environmental impact. 
  • Overseeing construction
  • MEP electrical engineers oversee the construction of electrical systems to ensure they are installed correctly and operate efficiently. 
  • Troubleshooting
  • MEP electrical engineers visit the work site to troubleshoot or alter the plan if necessary. 
  • Working with others
  • MEP electrical engineers work with other engineers and architects to design systems that meet the requirements set forth by lead engineers and architects. 
  • Ensuring safety
  • MEP electrical engineers ensure that buildings meet the safety and quality standards set by the government. They also monitor safety and health on the site and report any breaches to the Project Manager. 
  • Using CAD software
  • MEP electrical engineers often use computer-aided design (CAD) software to draft designs for systems.
