Long Island based, full-service engineering firm seeks a new Assistant MEP for fast paced and challenging workload for the design of:

• Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems
• Electrical systems
• Plumbing systems
• Fire Protection systems

Work with in-house MEP PE and other staff including structural and architectural, on developing building solutions for clients- typically developers, architects and owners. Significant mentoring from MEP department head will set expectations and provide guidance, but a self-starting nature is an absolute MUST. Areas of work typically span across Long Island and the New York Metro area (travel required- driver’s license is a must).

Work types include:

• Review existing documentation to assess overall project implications and challenges.
• Visit job sites to investigate, measure, take photos, and document existing installed conditions.
• Analyze building existing and proposed design conditions for heat and cooling load due to environment, equipment, people, etc.
• Develop preliminary HVAC design, electrical power calculations based on building needs, and plumbing system plans.
• Meet with in-house and outside professionals to review and revise design concepts (typically online, but also on-site).
• Design and draft demolition, new equipment plans, sections and details in AutoCAD over architect backgrounds. AutoCAD experience is a MUST.
• Coordinate with in-house staff for production and distribution, filing of drawings with authorities having jurisdiction, scheduling, etc.

Requirements

• BS in mechanical engineering
• Competent in drafting/AutoCAD skills and MS Office product (Excel, Outlook)
• Driver's License
