DESCRIPTION We are looking for a Texas Deputy Operations Manager to support the organization by leading a team of Civil Engineers in water/wastewater projects. This position will also be responsible for creating a healthy team environment, developing and implementing engineering strategies, and ensuring that projects are completed in a timely manner and within budget.


Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Maintains an intimate knowledge of general engineering and standards; assists in their development.

2. Provides technical support to Project Managers, Civil Engineers I and II, and Design Technicians; trains as appropriate; performs complex engineering tasks as required.

3. Oversees company organizational processes and operations to ensure productivity and quality of work.

4. Interfaces with Clients and Project Shareholders.

5. Provides Senior Technical Expert guidance on projects.

6. Responsible for managing office services by ensuring office operations and procedures are organized, correspondences are controlled internally and externally, systems are designed and adhered to, and clerical functions are properly assigned and monitored.

7. Assists with preparing proposals and statements of qualification.

8. Oversees the successful completion of multiple projects from the conceptual phase through construction.

9. Reviews Work of others for completeness and accuracy.

10. Develops final plans and contract specifications for various engineering projects.

11. Manages many projects at once while ensuring that they are completed according to prescribed schedule and budget.

12. Reports directly to management and gives regular updates on how they and the team are doing.

13. Conducts difficult conversations (sometimes making difficult choices).

14. Oversees client support services.

15. Provides quality control for projects and reports.

16. Demonstrates a continuous effort to improve options and decrease turnaround times and works cooperatively and jointly to provide quality customer performance.

17. Defining, implementing, and revising operational policies and guidelines for the organization.

18. Resolves client, construction contractor, and team conflicts.

19. Must be able to work in uneven terrain and all construction environments

20. Must be able to travel. 

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Engineering from a four-year college or university; and minimum of 15 years related experience and/or training. 5-10 years of proven leadership in managing a team and client. Experience in Municipal water/wastewater projects.

Certificates and Licenses:

P.E. License Preferred, Valid Driver’s License Required
