Mechanical Engineer – HVAC Design

Position Overview - We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support commercial building HVAC design and construction projects. This role will focus on HVAC system design, load calculations, equipment selection, and building system coordination across a variety of commercial projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform heating and cooling load calculations for commercial buildings.
• Design HVAC systems, including ductwork and piping layouts.
• Size HVAC equipment and select components, including DX and chilled water systems, pumps, and cooling towers.
• Support HVAC design and construction activities from planning through project completion.
• Use Revit and AutoCAD to develop and coordinate building system designs.
• Collaborate with project teams and communicate effectively with colleagues and other project stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME).
• 2–5 years of experience in commercial building mechanical/HVAC design.
• Working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD.
• Understanding of HVAC load calculations, system sizing, and equipment selection.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Ability to pass required background checks, including the Jessica Lunsford Act screening for school projects and FBI background checks for government building projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with both DX and chilled water HVAC systems.
• Familiarity with commercial building design and construction processes.
