Summary: We are seeking an experienced civil engineering leader to help drive business development, project growth, and client relationships throughout South Carolina.

This is a senior-level opportunity for an entrepreneurial civil engineer who enjoys both building client relationships and leading successful projects. This role will focus on developing new business, strengthening existing client relationships, identifying teaming opportunities, and helping grow an engineering team.

The initial focus of the position will be heavily centered on business development and market growth, while also providing senior-level project and technical leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead business development efforts throughout South Carolina.
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients, municipalities, agencies, and teaming partners.
• Identify new project opportunities and develop strategies to win work.
• Develop and execute market-growth strategies.
• Attend industry events and professional meetings, including SCDOT, ACEC, and ASCE functions.
• Lead proposal development and project pursuits.
• Manage civil engineering projects from planning through completion.
• Oversee project budgets, schedules, staffing, and deliverables.
• Provide technical direction and quality control for engineering projects.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams.
• Mentor, supervise, and develop junior engineering staff.
• Assist with identifying and recruiting key hires as the team grows.
• Maintain project documentation, client communication, and overall project performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• South Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 15+ years of civil engineering experience, preferably involving site development and/or municipal infrastructure.
• At least 5 years of Project Management and/or Business Development experience.
• Demonstrated ability to manage clients, projects, budgets, schedules, and engineering teams.
• Strong client-development and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to identify and pursue new business opportunities.
• Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Willingness to travel throughout South Carolina.
