Mechanical Engineer (MEP)

Location: Tampa / Clearwater, FL

Position Overview

A growing MEP consulting firm is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the design and delivery of HVAC and mechanical systems across a diverse portfolio of projects. This role will focus heavily on healthcare, commercial, and industrial facilities, requiring strong technical expertise and collaboration across disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

• Design HVAC and mechanical systems for healthcare, commercial, and industrial projects
• Perform load calculations, equipment sizing, and system selection
• Develop construction documents using Revit and/or AutoCAD
• Coordinate with electrical, plumbing, and architectural teams
• Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards (ASHRAE, FBC, etc.)
• Assist with project management tasks including schedules, budgets, and client communication
• Conduct site visits, field investigations, and provide construction administration support
• Review submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 3–8+ years of experience in MEP consulting (healthcare experience preferred)
• EIT required; PE license preferred or in progress
• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, load calculations, and energy-efficient design
• Familiarity with healthcare codes and regulatory processes is a plus
• Strong communication and coordination skills

Preferred Experience

• Experience with hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs), or laboratory facilities
• Exposure to energy modeling or sustainable design practices (LEED a plus)
• Experience working in a fast-paced consulting environment
