The individual will routinely support other engineers or project managers, particularly with technical issues, mentoring, and training for technical advancement. Research applicable industry standards, prepare engineering studies, analysis of systems, preliminary and detailed engineering designs. Develop engineering specifications. Review work of project design team, check progress of work and alert project managers to change of scope and additional services. Coordinate some aspects of project document completion. Direct CAD designers and other engineers for the preparation of construction drawings. Work with code officials and other design professionals when an interpretation or exception to codes is required. Coordinate project design with other engineering disciplines and clients. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering degree and ten (10) years of experience. Candidates without a college degree will be considered if they have at least 20 years of applicable experience.  
  • Professional Engineering License
  • Capable of determining appropriate system types and providing complex control sequences.
  • Expertise in specifying and designing mechanical systems in at least one of the core industries served by our: commercial, life sciences, manufacturing/industrial, mission critical, and government facilities.
  • Expertise in providing equipment selections, drawing and book specifications for all mechanical equipment which includes air devices, terminal units, chillers, boilers, heat exchangers, pumps, fans, packaged, custom, and modular air handing units, valves, insulation, expansion tanks, water heaters, grease interceptors and plumbing fixtures.
  • Advanced knowledge of performing cooling and heating load calculations.
  • Advanced knowledge of performing ventilation calculations using the ventilation rate procedure (VRP).
  • Advanced knowledge of performing COMcheck calculations, and energy modeling.
  • Advanced knowledge of performing ductwork and piping pressure drop calculations; ductwork and piping layouts.
  • Advanced knowledge of interpreting Building, Mechanical, and Fire Codes, and working with code officials.
  • Advanced knowledge of providing equipment selections, drawing and book specifications for all mechanical equipment which includes air devices, terminal units, chillers, boilers, heat exchangers, pumps, fans, packaged, custom, and modular air handing units, valves,insulation, expansion tanks, water heaters, grease interceptors and plumbing fixtures.


Candidates must have experience with the following software:

  • Microsoft Office applications – Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • AutoCAD or Revit experience is a plus (ability to open drawings, navigate, edit text, and print)
  • Familiarity or ability to utilize calculation software such as Carrier HAP and COMcheck
