Field Service Technician – Systems Integration

About the Role
Our client is seeking a Field Service Technician to support the troubleshooting, configuration, and optimization of integrated audiovisual and control systems across client sites.
This is a mid-level technical role designed for someone who enjoys diagnosing system issues in the field, working directly with clients, and collaborating with programming and engineering teams to restore full system functionality. The position offers ongoing technical growth and exposure to evolving AV and networked technologies.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Field Troubleshooting & System Support
- Troubleshoot and debug AV control and DSP systems in live client environments
- Identify root causes of system failures and systematically test potential points of failure
- Configure devices to optimal operational settings
- Load and adjust Control and DSP code in coordination with software developers
- Thoroughly test and force-fail systems to validate stability and performance
Programming & System Modifications
- Make graphical user interface adjustments in the field
- Reverse engineer existing systems to support programming updates or new functionality
- Collaborate with software developers to refine system performance
Networking & Infrastructure
- Create isolated LAN environments for AV device communication
- Configure WLANs for wireless device integration
- Communicate professionally with client IT staff regarding system requirements and integration challenges
Documentation & Communication
- Accurately complete all service documentation and field reports
- Open and manage service tickets with manufacturers
- Communicate clearly with Installation Managers, Service Managers, Engineers, and Developers regarding system status and technical concerns
What You’ll Bring
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Certifications in Poly, Q-SYS, Crestron, and/or Biamp preferred
- Strong ability to read and interpret AV engineering drawings, CAD functional drawings, risers, and architectural drawings
- Proven troubleshooting experience in AV systems or related technical environments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional customer service mindset
- Highly organized with strong documentation habits
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and overtime as needed
- Overnight travel approximately 5–10%, depending on project workload
