Technical Operations Manager – National Capital Region

Location: Ottawa, ON

Employment Type: Full-Time

Reports To: Regional Manager


About the Role

Our client is a national leader in digital media integration and audiovisual solutions. They are seeking a Technical Operations Manager to lead and strengthen their technical and project management teams within the National Capital Region.


This role is responsible for operational leadership, team development, financial oversight, and execution excellence. The Technical Operations Manager acts as a senior representative of the organization, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, staff are supported and developed, and clients consistently receive exceptional service.


This is a leadership role for someone who combines strong operational discipline with hands-on industry knowledge and the ability to inspire high-performing technical teams.


What You’ll Be Responsible For

Technical Operations & Performance Management

  • Oversee daily technical and project operations within the region
  • Manage operational budgets with focus on cost control and revenue optimization
  • Drive implementation of standardized processes and technical procedures
  • Develop and execute resource planning strategies to ensure projects and service work are completed on time
  • Monitor and improve departmental performance indicators
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and implement corrective solutions
  • Act as a senior escalation point for staff and clients

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop technical and project management staff
  • Manage team performance and support professional growth
  • Foster accountability, operational discipline, and collaboration
  • Support succession planning and ongoing staff development
  • Promote compliance with company policies, industry standards, and best practices

Project & Client Oversight

  • Provide advanced project management guidance and oversight
  • Support project start-up, execution, financial monitoring, and closeout
  • Ensure projects meet quality, timeline, and financial targets
  • Maintain strong client relationships and act with urgency when resolving issues
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards across all work sites


What You’ll Bring

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma required
  • PMP certification is an asset
  • CTS certification preferred


Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in operations leadership
  • Minimum 5 years in a formal leadership role
  • Experience managing teams of 5+ employees
  • Strong background in digital media, audiovisual systems, or related technical environments
  • Proven experience preparing budgets and business plans


Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities
  • Excellent mechanical and electrical knowledge
  • Advanced analytical and decision-making skills
  • Experience implementing and measuring performance metrics
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite including Excel, Project, Teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High ethical standards and discretion when handling sensitive information
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment


Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based with regional travel as required
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Standard office and client-site environment
