Installation Technician – Audiovisual Systems

About the Role
We’re looking for an Installation Technician to join a growing team that designs and delivers complex audiovisual and broadcast systems. In this role, you’ll be hands-on with the installation, configuration, and testing of cutting-edge technology solutions for corporate, government, education, entertainment, and broadcast environments.
You’ll work closely with project managers, technical leads, and clients to ensure each system is installed to industry standards and exceeds customer expectations. This position offers the chance to work with advanced technologies from Crestron, AMX, Biamp, Cisco, and others while continuing to grow your technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and test system hardware, control interfaces, DSPs, and AV devices.
- Perform wiring, terminations, rack builds, and equipment installation in line with project specifications.
- Troubleshoot, service, and resolve deficiencies in installed systems.
- Assist with CAD updates, redlining, and the creation of post-project as-builts.
- Coordinate logistics, materials, and schedules to ensure successful project completion.
- Support clients with remote or on-site troubleshooting to resolve escalations.
- Maintain accurate time and labor records using online systems.
- Adhere to health and safety policies, ensuring safe practices on every job site.
- Participate in professional development to stay current with evolving AV and networking technologies.
Qualifications & Experience
- Post-secondary education in Electronics, Broadcast, Telecom, or related field.
- CTS Certification (CTS-I preferred); BICSI certification an asset.
- Minimum 2 years of AV or related installation experience.
- Knowledge of AV control systems (Crestron, AMX, Extron) and DSP platforms (Biamp, Clearone, BSS, Cisco).
- Basic networking knowledge (IP networking certifications preferred).
- Strong ability to read and interpret schematics, electrical drawings, and system designs.
- Proficiency in AV and network cabling terminations; experience pulling low-voltage cabling.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Excellent communication skills and strong teamwork orientation.
- Flexible schedule — willing to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required (10–30%).
- Ability to obtain high-level security clearance.
