Department Manager - Mechanical (HVAC)

Alpharetta, GA

We are seeking a Department Manager to lead our Alpharetta, GA office’s HVAC group. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing and mentoring a team of 5-7 HVAC engineers, driving technical excellence, and ensuring successful project delivery.

Reporting directly to a Senior Partner, the Department Manager will guide HVAC system design from concept through construction, maintain quality standards, and serve as a trusted advisor to clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and mentor a team of 5-7 HVAC engineers
• Provide technical oversight and direction for HVAC system design
• Develop and review engineering studies, calculations, and system layouts
• Oversee specifications, controls diagrams, and sequences of operation
• Ensure compliance with building codes and internal design standards
• Participate in client meetings and present design concepts
• Conduct site visits to support construction and resolve technical issues

Qualifications

• PE license required
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience within an MEP consulting firm
• Strong HVAC, hydronic systems, and controls expertise
• Proven leadership, communication, and project management skills
• Hybrid schedule with in-office presence Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday
