Autonomous Vehicle Technician

Location: Austin, TX (On-site)

Pay: $22.00–$30.00 per hour

Job Type: Full-time, 12-month contract

Schedule: Monday–Friday | Day and afternoon shifts available

The Short Version

We're hiring hands-on technicians to build, maintain, and deploy autonomous vehicles and delivery robots for a leading company at the forefront of the self-driving industry. If you've ever wanted to work on the machines that are reshaping how the world moves — this is your shot.

This isn't a desk job. You'll be wrenching on real hardware, running diagnostics, swapping sensors, pulling wire, and getting robotic platforms road-ready in a fast-paced shop and field environment. You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with engineers and operations teams who are building technology most people have only read about.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Building and integrating hardware — Install sensors, compute modules, wiring harnesses, and custom components onto robotic platforms and modified vehicles.
  • Diagnosing and repairing — Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues across vehicle and robotic systems. Find the problem, fix the problem.
  • Keeping things running — Perform preventative maintenance, retrofits, and hardware updates to keep the fleet in peak condition.
  • Supporting field operations — Provide on-site service during deployments, including troubleshooting, hardware swaps, and real-time problem solving.
  • Working cross-functionally — Collaborate directly with engineering and operations teams on testing, prototyping, and continuous improvement.
  • Staying organized — Maintain tools, manage parts inventory, and document repairs and procedures clearly.

What We're Looking For

You'll be a great fit if you have:

  • Hands-on experience in automotive service, automotive retrofit, robotics, or a similar technical trade
  • Confidence using mechanical and electrical tools, multimeters, and diagnostic equipment
  • The ability to read and follow mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams
  • Working knowledge of AC/DC systems, connectors, and electronic modules
  • A valid driver's license (required — you'll need to move vehicles as part of the job)
  • The physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work comfortably in shop and field environments
  • Sharp attention to detail and a genuine problem-solving mindset
  • A team-first attitude with strong communication skills

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience with electric vehicles, autonomous systems, or sensor installation
  • Soldering, crimping, or basic prototyping skills

What the Job Looks Like Day-to-Day

You'll start with a two-week training period (Monday–Friday, 10 AM–6 PM) to get up to speed on the systems, tools, and processes. After that, you'll move into one of two regular shifts:

  • Morning shift: 6:30 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Afternoon shift: 1:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Schedules may shift based on business needs, so flexibility is a plus.

Why This Role Is Worth Your Attention

This isn't just another technician job. You'll be working on autonomous vehicles and delivery robots — technology that's actively changing transportation, logistics, and how cities operate. The team is growing fast, the work is hands-on and varied, and you'll pick up experience with cutting-edge systems that most technicians never get to touch.

If you're the kind of person who'd rather solve a real problem on a real machine than sit through another meeting — we want to hear from you.
