The Company Behind the Role
Our client is a consultancy that partners with global pharmaceutical and healthcare organizations to uncover insights that guide smarter decisions. They combine strategic thinking with hands-on research expertise to deliver projects that shape brand strategy, inform development, and drive business growth. Known for their collaborative culture, the team brings curiosity and creativity to solving complex challenges.
Job Overview
This role brings together hands-on healthcare data analysis, pharmaceutical market research, and AI. You’ll personally analyze medical and pharmacy claims to understand HCP prescribing behavior, connect those findings with qualitative research, and help develop synthetic audiences that support forecasting, segmentation, and market intelligence.
What You’ll Do
- Analyze medical and pharmacy claims to understand and predict HCP prescribing behavior by drug, condition, and treatment area.
- Connect qualitative and attitudinal HCP segments with provider identifiers and observed prescribing behavior.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis and feature engineering using SQL, Python, pandas, and NumPy.
- Build AI-powered synthetic provider and patient personas grounded in real-world claims data.
- Develop methods to translate qualitative research insights into national quantitative projections.
- Develop, train, and evaluate machine learning models.
- Conduct and help automate HCP and patient segmentation, demand forecasting, patient journey mapping, and audience simulation.
- Translate complex analyses into actionable segmentation, targeting, and forecasting insights.
- Clean, combine, augment, and transform data, addressing gaps and creating datasets and analytics workspaces in AWS.
- Resolve identity matching, tokenization, and data harmonization challenges across sources.
- Build scalable, tested, version-controlled data models using dbt and implement automated data quality checks.
- Build and maintain backend APIs using FastAPI on AWS, delivering data products and insights to internal tools and client-facing applications.
What You’ll Bring
- 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, data science, or a related role.
- Direct, hands-on experience analyzing medical and pharmacy claims—not solely engineering the systems that process them.
- Experience using claims data to understand and predict HCP prescribing behavior for specific drugs, conditions, and treatment areas.
- Familiarity with major healthcare data vendors such as IQVIA, Komodo, Symphony, or Definitive Healthcare. EHR experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of HIPAA requirements for handling healthcare data, including de-identified datasets.
- An understanding of pharmaceutical market research, including HCP and patient segmentation, demand forecasting, journey mapping, and modeling.
- Experience integrating survey or primary research data with large quantitative datasets and linking attitudinal HCP segments to prescribing behavior.
- The ability to help develop synthetic audiences, simulated segments, and virtual HCP personas.
- Experience developing, training, and evaluating machine learning models. LLM fine-tuning and training experience is a plus.
- Proven ownership of end-to-end data pipelines and scalable analytics systems on AWS, including hands-on experience with Athena, S3, Glue, and SageMaker.
- Expert SQL and strong Python skills, including pandas and large-scale data workflows.
- The ability to turn complex findings into practical business insights.
- Comfort using AI coding assistants and agentic development tools.
