Summary
This part-time Payroll Specialist role supports clients with accurate, timely, and compliant multi-state payroll processing while providing a high-touch, people-first service experience . The position focuses on managing complex payroll needs, ensuring tax and regulatory accuracy, and improving processes across the full payroll lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Independently manage full-cycle, multi-state payroll
- Calculate and record wages, overtime, deductions, bonuses, and separations
- Maintain tax setup, compliance, and reporting requirements
- Coordinate payroll activities within HRIS and with external vendors
- Support system updates, enhancements, and payroll-related implementations
- Review timesheets, investigate discrepancies, and ensure timely submission
- Prepare manual payments when needed
- Conduct payroll-related audits and maintain accurate documentation
- Identify process improvements and recommend best practices
- Provide strong client communication and responsive customer support
Qualifications and Skills
- 5–10 years of multi-state payroll experience
- Working knowledge of payroll taxes, compliance, and auditing
- Proficiency with payroll systems and Microsoft Office
- Strong attention to detail, problem solving, and client service
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; CPP or SHRM certifications are a plus
Salary
$30–$35 per hour
