Summary
The HR Generalist serves as a hands-on, trusted partner supporting day-to-day human resources operations, compliance, and employee experience for a small, mission-driven organization. This role provides broad generalist support while helping stabilize and strengthen HR foundations during a period of transition.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary HR point of contact for employees and leaders
- Support employee relations, engagement initiatives, and culture-building efforts
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and applicable employment laws, with emphasis on Colorado regulations
- Maintain accurate employee records, HRIS data, and documentation
- Create, update, and maintain employee policies and an employee handbook
- Support recruiting, onboarding, and offboarding processes
- Assist with benefits administration and employee inquiries
- Coordinate with payroll to ensure accurate data changes and compliance
- Support performance management, policy updates, and HR process improvements
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent experience
- Approximately 3+ years of progressive HR generalist experience
- Experience supporting or working within a nonprofit environment
- Working knowledge of employment laws and HR compliance requirements, ideally including Colorado
- Ability to work independently as a department of one
- Strong communication, organization, and judgment skills
- HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred
Salary
$60–65 per hour
