The leading supermarket chain on the island of Bermuda is currently in search of an experienced Store Manager to join its team. Bermuda is an upscale, English-speaking island off the coast of the Carolinas and is known for its beautiful pink sand beaches as well as its extremely low tax rates. Our client operates nine (9) full-service supermarkets on the island, as well additional club store, dollar store, and department store formats. Day-to-day operations of the chain are run primarily by Americans, so store conditions and expectations are very similar to those within the United States.
Key requirements to be considered for this unique opportunity:
Our client company will offer a base salary of $80,000, excellent quarterly bonus opportunity (tied directly to net profit), overtime, and a significant benefits package, including paid vacation, retirement plan, and pension. Total income for a Store Manager typically falls between $95,000 and $125,000, depending on overtime and store profitability, and you keep approximately 87% of your paycheck after deductions for local taxes, healthcare, and pension. Also, while living and working abroad, US Citizens are able to exempt their first $126,500 in income each year from US income tax under the 2024 IRS guidelines for Foreign Earned Income Exclusion – you only pay US taxes on amounts earned over this amount. While the cost of living in Bermuda is higher than most locations in the United States, the directors and managers that we have placed over the past several years report that the lack of taxation more than makes up for the increase.
Please note that there are many factors to consider when relocating to Bermuda. Immigration policies for work permits can be very restrictive – this is typically an opportunity for empty nesters or a single person with no dependents. Our client company does offer a relocation program that will cover physical goods and temporary housing, but does NOT involve sale of an existing home. Also, while the interview process will progress rapidly, the immigration process often takes an additional 6-8 weeks and involves extensive criminal background checks.
Once again, to be considered for this position, you must have at least five years of experience as a Store Manager within a supermarket environment! If you are interested in this opportunity and in a position to be able to move to an island location, please apply now and be sure to include your resume. If your background is a match for our client's requirements, we'll contact you right away.
