Bronwick is hiring a Controller, CPA (Finance Manager) for an established, locally owned real estate and operating business in Grosse Pointe Woods.
This is a key leadership role that bridges day-to-day accounting and higher-level financial reporting. You will lead the accounting function, manage 2 to 3 people,
and work closely with a CFO, a senior accountant, and a bookkeeper.
This role is ideal for a CPA who enjoys building clean quarterly reporting, improving visibility into profitability, and owning accurate P&L and balance sheet reporting
across multiple entities and partnerships.
What You Will Be Doing
- Lead the accounting department and manage a small team (2 to 3 direct reports).
- Own monthly close and drive on-time, accurate financial reporting across multiple entities.
- Prepare quarterly reporting packages, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow insights, and variance analysis.
- Build and maintain profitability reporting by entity, project, and partnership.
- Produce performance reports for investors and partnerships, including multi-entity tracking and recurring reporting cadence.
- Partner with the CFO on forecasting, budgeting support, and financial decision-making.
- Strengthen internal controls, improve processes, and keep documentation consistent across entities.
- Coordinate with external partners as needed, including CPA firm support, tax coordination, and banking requests.
What We’re Looking For
- CPA required, or CPA-track with strong controller-level experience.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including financial statement responsibility.
- Experience with multi-entity accounting, partnership reporting, and investor-focused reporting is strongly preferred.
- Prior leadership experience, including managing or mentoring team members.
- Strong Excel skills, comfortable building reporting tools and repeatable templates.
- High attention to detail, strong judgment, and the ability to handle sensitive information professionally.
- Comfortable working in person and collaborating closely with leadership and internal stakeholders.
