About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Production / Operations Manager to lead and optimize our fabrication operations. This role is responsible for overseeing end-to-end production performance, aligning people, processes, and schedules to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to quality standards.
This position goes beyond day-to-day shop supervision, focusing on operational planning, workflow coordination, resource management, and continuous improvement across production. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can balance strategic oversight with practical problem-solving in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all production operations, ensuring countertops are fabricated accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.
- Plan and coordinate production schedules, labor allocation, and workflow to meet delivery and installation timelines.
- Lead, train, and develop production staff, establishing clear expectations for safety, quality, and accountability.
- Serve as the primary operational liaison between the shop, office staff, templaters, and installers to ensure seamless project execution.
- Monitor operational KPIs such as throughput, rework, scrap, and on-time completion; implement improvements as needed.
- Manage inventory levels of raw materials, tooling, and consumables to minimize downtime and waste.
- Ensure safety programs, policies, and procedures are followed and continuously improved.
- Review job tickets, CAD drawings, and production data to proactively identify risks, bottlenecks, or capacity constraints.
- Oversee preventive maintenance and uptime of CNC machines, saws, polishers, and other fabrication equipment.
- Establish and enforce quality control standards at each stage of production.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, cost reduction, workflow optimization, and scalability.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and implement sustainable, root-cause solutions.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in countertop fabrication or a similar manufacturing environment (granite, quartz, or solid surface preferred).
- 2+ years of experience in a production management, operations management, or supervisory leadership role.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing workflows, capacity planning, and material flow.
- Experience with CNC machinery, digital templating systems, and fabrication equipment preferred.
- Proven ability to manage teams, schedules, and competing priorities.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings, technical plans, and production reports.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Proficiency with basic computer tools (Excel, scheduling software, shop or ERP systems).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to be present on the production floor for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
- Comfortable working in a fabrication environment with stone materials, dust, and machinery noise.
Location: Lakewood, NJ
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday (occasional Saturdays as needed)
