Position Summary

The Project Engineer is responsible for providing electrical engineering design, support, and project management for outdoor electrical substations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

·      Provide electrical engineering calculations and support in the design of high voltage substations.

·      Generate technical specifications and/or data sheets for the procurement of major equipment and prepare engineering reports.

·      Review and coordinate with designers to produce electrical layout drawings.

·      Ensures engineering designs and their applications are compliant with code and standards set forth by the appropriate design codes.

·      Review vendor submittals, perform technical evaluation of bids and make recommendations which meet Client requirements for operability, reliability, maintainability, and safety. Manage procurement and engineering design schedules.

·      Coordinate with other departments on material, engineering documents, and equipment releases.

·      Communicate with manufacturers, field personnel, and customers on project design and coordination.

·      Additional responsibilities may be added as needed.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

·      Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering with emphasis on electrical power, similar to substation (preferred)

·      Experienced with AutoCAD and/or Inventor CAD software

·      EI or PE license preferred

·      Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of the organization

·      Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel & Word

·      Critical Thinking Skills based on engineering fundamentals, information, data, and observation
