Position Summary
The Electrical Designer is responsible for providing electrical design and configurations for high voltage, outdoor, and electrical substations.
ESSENTIAL Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
· Design and layout electrical substations using Autodesk AutoCAD 2D and Autodesk Inventor 3D
· Create 3D models and 3D assemblies using Inventor
· Create material lists and field assembly drawings using AutoCAD and Inventor
· Maintain electronic CAD files using Autodesk Vault
· Use industry standard codes and standards
· Follow customer requirements, general outlines, equipment cut sheets, and specifications
· Work with and follow instructions from engineers and senior designers
· Apply in house CAD standards and practices
· Coordinate with office staff on document releases
· Communicate with manufacturers and customers on project coordination
· Additional responsibilities may be added as needed
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
· Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
· Possesses beginning-to working knowledge of subject matter.
· Experienced with AutoCAD 2D, Inventor 3D, and Vault preferred.
· Accreditation from a technical school, or an applicable skilled trades program preferred, or equivalent Engineering Design experience within related industry
· Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate across all levels of the organization from senior management to manufacturing partners
· Excellent mathematical skills including fundamental understanding of geometry, trigonometry, and solid geometry
· Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel & Word
· Problem Solving Skills based on information, data, and observation
· 1 to 5 years of experience
