Product Development Engineer (Electrical / Medical Devices)

A privately held medical device design company in Cleveland is seeking a Product Development Engineer with strong Electrical Engineering expertise to help design and launch next-generation surgical devices.This role sits at the intersection of electrical systems, embedded hardware/software integration, and product development in a regulated environment.


You’ll be hands-on in driving new product innovation from concept through commercialization, working closely with engineering, clinicians, and manufacturing teams to deliver reliable, high-performance medical technologies.


What you’ll do:


• Lead design and development of electrical-based medical devices, including hardware, software, and user interface integration

• Support full product development lifecycle: concept, prototyping, testing, verification, and launch

• Perform engineering analysis, simulation, and validation of device performance

• Design for reliability, manufacturability, testability, cost, and regulatory compliance

• Develop and maintain design control documentation (requirements, functional specs, verification plans)

• Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, manufacturing, quality, and clinical stakeholders

• Use project management discipline to meet timelines and deliverables


What we’re looking for:


• BS in Electrical Engineering or related field

• 5+ years in new product development (electrical/electronics focus strongly preferred)

• Strong experience with electrical design, systems integration, and troubleshooting

• Exposure to PLCs, embedded systems, or PCB-level work a plus

• Familiarity with regulated environments (ISO 13485, FDA design controls preferred)

• Experience with medical safety standards (IEC 60601, EMC standards a plus)

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, small-team environment

• Comfortable working hands-on with prototypes, lab testing, and cross-functional teams
