Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Medical Device
Location: Essex Connecticut
A precision manufacturer of miniature fluid control products is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to support production and continuous improvement of complex electromechanical products used in demanding applications.
This role works closely with product engineering, automation engineering, and quality teams to ensure manufacturing equipment, tooling, and processes are properly developed, validated, and maintained to support high-reliability production.
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will report directly to the Manufacturing Manager or Chief Engineer and will play a key role in maintaining production performance while supporting new equipment and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support production by troubleshooting and maintaining manufacturing equipment including automation systems, mechanical systems, tooling, fixtures, and pallets
• Facilitate the implementation and documentation of new production equipment and tooling
• Perform verification and validation activities associated with manufacturing tools prior to release
• Ensure all production equipment meets defined requirements before implementation in manufacturing
• Collaborate with Product Engineering and Automation Engineering to define equipment release requirements
• Participate in new product introduction activities and support equipment and process development
• Support equipment enhancement initiatives and sustaining engineering improvements
• Develop and maintain work instructions, operation guides, and documentation associated with production equipment
• Define, schedule, and execute preventive maintenance activities for automation, tooling, fixtures, and production equipment
• Support machine repairs and initiate re-verification activities based on risk and repair scope
• Maintain spare parts inventories for production equipment and coordinate safety stock levels with automation BOMs
• Track, analyze, and report production equipment faults or issues and lead root cause investigations
• Analyze real-time production data and perform trend analysis to improve reliability and performance
• Maintain production equipment capacity planning documentation
• Conduct equipment training for operators and production personnel
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve yield, efficiency, and equipment reliability
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• Strong understanding of mechanical design concepts including jigs, fixtures, tooling, and automation systems
• Experience working with SolidWorks and PDM configuration management systems
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting automated production equipment and mechanical systems
• Experience in regulated manufacturing environments preferred
• Medical device or solenoid manufacturing experience is a plus
