Vice President, Global Operations – Molding & Assembly

Position Summary

The Vice President, Global Operations – Molding, Assembly & Extrusion is responsible for leading and transforming the company’s global manufacturing footprint, including injection molding, silicone extrusion, automated assembly, and supply chain operations.

This executive will be a highly engaged, hands-on operational leader — as hands-on as a VP should be — capable of entering underperforming facilities, assessing gaps, building structured improvement plans, and driving measurable performance gains across safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

The role is structured as a succession-track opportunity with the potential to advance into a President-level role, based on performance and business readiness.

This position requires a leader who can both operate at enterprise level and engage deeply at the plant level when needed.

Key Responsibilities

Global Operational Leadership & Turnaround

  • Lead global injection molding, silicone extrusion, and automated assembly operations across multiple sites.
  • Conduct structured operational assessments of existing facilities and develop detailed turnaround or performance improvement roadmaps.
  • Drive stabilization and margin improvement in underperforming plants.
  • Establish standardized operational playbooks across molding, extrusion, and assembly platforms.
  • Develop and execute 1–3 year operational transformation plans aligned to enterprise strategy.

Hands-On Execution

  • Spend meaningful time onsite in facilities during critical periods (launches, turnarounds, audit preparation, major improvement initiatives).
  • Engage directly with plant leadership teams to remove bottlenecks and accelerate decision-making.
  • Review molding metrics (scrap, OEE, cycle time, validation stability), extrusion process capability, and automated assembly throughput.
  • Lead structured problem-solving initiatives when performance gaps exist.

This is not a remote oversight role. It requires operational presence and credibility.

Financial & Performance Ownership

  • Drive EBITDA improvement through operational efficiency, footprint optimization, and cost discipline.
  • Partner with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, and capital deployment strategies.
  • Build clear operational KPIs tied to margin improvement and capacity scalability.
  • Prepare for expanded P&L ownership responsibilities as part of succession planning.

Manufacturing & Technical Scope

  • Oversee:
  • Injection molding (precision, cleanroom, medical-grade)
  • Silicone extrusion operations
  • Automated assembly platforms
  • NPI and industrialization
  • Tooling strategy and automation integration
  • Ensure scalable systems to support growth, new technologies, and product expansion.

Regulatory & Compliance Leadership

  • Ensure all facilities meet or exceed regulatory requirements (FDA, ISO 13485, OSHA, EPA, etc.).
  • Maintain audit readiness across global operations.
  • Embed compliance discipline into operational culture.

Talent & Organizational Development

  • Strengthen plant-level leadership capability.
  • Develop succession plans for key operational roles.
  • Build a culture of accountability, execution, and continuous improvement.
  • Elevate underperforming teams through structured leadership development.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Business, or related field (MBA preferred).
  • 15+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Significant experience in injection molding environments.
  • Exposure to silicone extrusion or elastomer processing.
  • Demonstrated success leading automated assembly operations.
  • Proven experience turning around or materially improving existing manufacturing facilities.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience influencing or owning P&L performance.
  • Experience in regulated manufacturing environments (medical device preferred).

Leadership Profile

The ideal candidate will be:

  • A structured and organized operational strategist.
  • Comfortable working both in the boardroom and on the manufacturing floor.
  • Data-driven and financially disciplined.
  • Capable of building detailed execution plans and holding teams accountable.
  • A credible technical operator with molding and assembly depth.
  • A future enterprise leader prepared for expanded general management responsibility.

Travel

Approximately 30–40% global travel required, with flexibility during transformation periods.
