- Lead end-to-end ocean freight and drayage operations with full accountability for execution and carrier performance.
- Negotiate high-value contracts with Jones Act carriers and international ocean providers, including FAK and named account rates.
- Establish and grow direct relationships with beneficial cargo owners (BCOs), carriers, and drayage partners.
- Manage and develop a distributed team, including offshore staff, while maintaining strong ownership over execution and relationship strategy.
- Influence pricing and procurement strategies with real-time market intelligence and analytics.
- Own KPIs for service quality, compliance, and cost optimization.
- Partner cross-functionally with operations, sales, and finance to align carrier strategies with business growth.

- Execute contract negotiations, manage SLAs, and lead Quarterly Business Reviews to resolve disputes and unlock value.
- Ensure alignment of drayage capacity with port schedules, equipment availability, and regulatory compliance.
- Leverage TMS and freight management tools to monitor and improve carrier performance.
- Deliver market insights that shape routing decisions, bid responses, and commercial strategies.
- Build a resilient, scalable logistics function capable of supporting global growth.
Are You a Director of Ocean & Drayage Carrier Management Rock Star?
- You bring 7+ years of experience in ocean freight and carrier management, with a track record in both strategy and execution.
- You’ve led complex contract negotiations and maintained long-term partnerships with ocean and drayage carriers.
- You have hands-on experience moving containers globally and understand compliance requirements, INCOTERMS, and BCO dynamics.
- You’ve successfully managed teams, including offshore and hybrid structures, with an emphasis on performance ownership.
- You know the difference between coordinating freight and owning relationships — and you’ve done the latter.
- You navigate TMS, freight rate tools, and logistics dashboards like a pro.
