This is a hybrid contract opportunity based in New York, NY, supporting enterprise data security governance within a regulated financial services environment. The role offers exposure to cross-functional security, risk, audit, privacy, and technology stakeholders while contributing to data protection frameworks that support enterprise-wide information security maturity.
How You Will Make An Impact
- Support the development, maintenance, and operational rollout of data security governance policies, standards, frameworks, and control expectations.
- Help define and reinforce governance requirements for protecting sensitive data across internal platforms, enterprise systems, and third-party relationships.
- Support enterprise data classification efforts by helping establish handling, retention, encryption, and protection requirements across the data lifecycle.
- Partner with cybersecurity, privacy, data governance, legal, risk, and technology teams to translate policy requirements into practical operational controls.
- Assist with control validation, audit requests, regulatory support, and governance reporting tied to data protection and information security.
- Prepare clear documentation, guidance, reporting, and executive-ready materials that explain complex data security requirements in a practical way.
Do you bring proven success in data security governance and information protection?
- 5–7 years of experience supporting data security governance, information protection, data protection, or related cybersecurity governance programs.
- Experience working in a regulated environment, ideally financial services, banking, insurance, or another highly controlled enterprise setting.
- Strong knowledge of data classification, data loss prevention, encryption, secure data handling, key management concepts, and data lifecycle protection.
- Familiarity with information security governance frameworks, policy lifecycle management, risk assessments, control validation, audit responses, and regulatory reporting.
- Understanding of enterprise data environments, identity and access management, and security architecture as they relate to data protection.
- Ability to work with technical teams and business stakeholders to convert policy language into actionable controls and governance guidance.
- Strong documentation, reporting, stakeholder communication, and executive presentation skills.
- Ability to manage cross-functional coordination across cybersecurity, data governance, privacy, legal, risk, and technology teams.
