Job Description: Plant Manager


Overview:

Our client, a market leader in the production of fine grind calcium carbonate products, is seeking a high-impact Plant Manager to drive operational excellence and deliver best-in-class customer service across their flagship site. The Plant Manager will be accountable for achieving critical operational, financial, and compliance outcomes in a collaborative, safety-first culture .


Mission:

Within your first year, lead the site to achieve improved quality metrics, reduce cost per ton, maximize plant uptime, and elevate customer satisfaction scores while building a resilient, high-performing team culture .


Key Performance Objectives (What You’ll Accomplish):


Operational Leadership (50%):

  • Direct daily activities in quarry and plant operations to consistently deliver quality products, optimize loading times, and ensure accurate order fulfillment.
  • Hire, train, and coach staff for high performance and retention.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures, continuously measure performance, and drive improvements in key metrics such as cost per ton, uptime, and production efficiency.


Project & Process Improvement (30%):

  • Own the execution of daily preventative maintenance as well as forward-looking capital planning projects.
  • Champion plant automation initiatives and the integration of communication network systems.
  • Ensure all plant metrics are met or exceeded with minimal exceptions.


Cross-functional Collaboration & Compliance (20%):

  • Collaborate with sales, customer service, headquarters, and site teams to plan and execute short/long-term production targets.
  • Engage with safety and quality managers to surpass compliance standards and promote a strong safety and environmental culture .


Competency Profile – What Drives Success?

  • Proven leadership in mining/plant operations (10+ years) and direct staff management.
  • Expertise with fine grind/granule production, plant automation, and communication network systems.
  • Organized, fiscally astute, and detail-oriented; a strategic, adaptable learner with a continuous improvement mindset .
  • Demonstrated ability to build genuine cross-functional partnerships and professionally manage teams.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering or Operations-related field preferred; minimum of high school diploma with equivalent professional experience .

Compensation:

Annual salary is commensurate with experience .
