Basic Function
The Director of Sales – North America is responsible for developing and executing sales strategies to maximize revenue growth, expand market share, and strengthen our client’s leadership position in the premium pet food industry. This role oversees all North American sales operations, leads sales teams, and aligns sales initiatives with the company’s long-term growth objectives. With a commitment to providing premium pet nutrition, our client aims to improve the health and longevity of pets through innovative products and unique sales strategies.
Key Responsibilities

Lead International Sales Operations – Manage, motivate, and grow a North America sales team, ensuring a team performance rating of 85% or higher based on quarterly reviews

Develop Strategic Growth Plans – Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve annual revenue targets for North America, with a goal of increasing sales by at least 15% year-over-year.

Team Leadership – Recruit, coach, and mentor high-performing sales teams across Canada and the United States.

Market Intelligence – Monitor competitive activity, industry trends, and evolving customer preferences to inform strategic decisions.

Key Account Management – Establish and maintain strong partnerships with major accounts, aiming for a customer retention rate of 90% or higher.

Cross-Functional Collaboration – Work closely with marketing, operations, and product development to ensure alignment of sales initiatives with brand objectives.

Reporting & Analysis – Prepare and present detailed sales performance reports to the executive team, making recommendations for continuous improvement. Oversee sales forecasting and data analysis to ensure accuracy in predictions, targeting a forecast accuracy rate of at least 95%.

Travel Requirements – Frequent travel across North America to meet with clients, attend trade shows, and support sales staff. Expectation of up to 50% travel.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field; MBA preferred
- 5+ years of sales management experience in the pet food or consumer packaged goods industry, or 10+ years of progressive sales experience in related fields.
- Proven ability to deliver revenue growth and lead successful sales teams.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment
- Strong analytical skills to interpret sales data and market trends.
- Valid driver’s license and passport for travel requirements.
- Familiarity with pet nutrition and industry standards is an asset.
