We are looking for an organized accounting professional to oversee the financial reporting and day-to-day accounting activities for a portfolio of commercial real estate entities. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, completing recurring accounting processes, and supporting annual reporting requirements. The ideal candidate has previous property accounting experience, enjoys working with multiple entities, and is comfortable managing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Cash Management & Daily Accounting
- Record and reconcile daily cash transactions across multiple property entities.
- Monitor banking activity and verify deposits, electronic payments, and incoming funds.
- Post checks, wire transfers, ACH transactions, and other cash activity to the accounting system.
- Reconcile daily cash activity with the general ledger to ensure accuracy.
- Review incoming invoices received by mail or email and prepare them for processing.
Accounts Payable & Routine Accounting
- Prepare and process vendor payments through checks and electronic payment methods.
- Coordinate payment approvals and assist with urgent payment requests when necessary.
- File and remit applicable sales tax payments.
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Ensure recurring payments, including association dues, distributions, and other scheduled obligations, are processed on time.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Assist with annual Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations by working closely with property management.
- Prepare and submit business license renewals and other regulatory filings.
- Process year-end vendor reporting, including 1099 preparation.
- Support audits, reporting projects, and additional accounting initiatives as assigned.
Administrative Support
- Provide general office support, including answering incoming phone calls and assisting with administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in property accounting, real estate accounting, or bookkeeping for multiple entities.
- Experience with MRI accounting software is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of commercial real estate accounting concepts, including CAM reconciliations.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate financial records.
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting established deadlines.
- Must be available to work full-time from an office environment in the Phoenix metropolitan area.
