Are you a seasoned structural engineer with a strong background in R&D and fabrication with a passion for bringing smiles to faces? We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Engineer with proven expertise in full life-cycle structural design and development. This is a pivotal role in both our R&D and fabrication departments, where your work will drive innovation and ensure that our projects exceed the highest safety and design standards. Our client is a leading company specializing in the design, construction, and management of innovative zip lines, aerial adventure parks, amusement rides and an ever-growing list of products in these markets. Compensation and Benefits:

  • Competitive salary of $95,000-140,000 DOE.
  • Hybrid work schedule with at least 3 days in the office (Hendersonville, TN).
  • Hybrid 3 days in the office and 2 home. Initially, the first couple of months of onboarding will be 4 days a week in the office. The office is a manufacturing shop that builds for all projects.

  • The client will relocate the candidate. Relocation assistance is offered and is based on experience level
  • Travel is 10-15%. They have locations in Gatlinburg, TN, and Oahu, HI. They are breaking ground on a third site in NY. With plans to open 2 more locations. Engineers will have to go onsite when the structures go into the ground, and there will be some traveling to train/inspect.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform advanced catenary analysis for zip line projects, calculating clearances and tensions to produce detailed reports and signed drawings.
  • Design structural systems using AutoCAD and SolidWorks, ensuring robust and unified models based on forces from cables, wind, geotech, and other variables.
  • Collaborate across teams to integrate mechanical and structural design, promoting creative thinking that enhances team knowledge and innovation.
  • Develop comprehensive foundation designs and produce structural packages for various projects.
  • Provide mentorship on GD&T principles, guiding teams from conceptual design to final fabrication.
  • Lead quality control efforts, ensuring structural integrity in the fabrication of steel, wood, and composite structures.
  • Use MathCAD or similar tools for structural load calculations, creating standards and procedures for ongoing projects.
  • Manage external engineering teams and provide field support, adjusting designs for topography or project-specific needs.
  • Serve as a critical member of the R&D team, contributing to product development and overseeing the design-to-production lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO/ASTM standards and drive continuous improvement in safety and quality.


Qualifications:

  • Expertise in SolidWorks and AutoCAD for structural design, including simulation and stress analysis.
  • Experience in advanced manufacturing methods such as welding, stamping, laser cutting, and waterjet cutting.
  • Strong project management abilities with a history of leading multiple projects to completion under tight timelines.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Tennessee or eligibility to obtain PE certification.
  • Familiarity with ASTM F24 Amusement Guidelines and ISO/CE QA standards.
  • Advanced fabrication skills, including welding and machining, with knowledge of CNC controls.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering and Six Sigma certification is a plus.
  • The ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 years experience.
