Job Description: Building Envelope Analyst
• Registered Roof Observer – RRO® certification required
Serve as the functional area lead for building enclosure commissioning and project manager for building enclosure
energy efficiency upgrades.
• Complete constructability and third-party peer reviews of plans and specifications prepared by others.
• Conduct investigations and conditions assessments in order to determine appropriate repair of damaged and/or poorly
performing building envelope systems.
• Complete design assignments related to upgrades, maintenance, and restoration of existing buildings, as well as
components of design related to new construction.
• Manage projects and teams in both new and existing construction in a variety of envelope-related projects, assuring QA/
QC in the final product.
Qualifications: Building Envelope Analyst
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, Construction
Management, or 10 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Registered Architect (RA) or Engineering (P. Eng./PE) preferred.
• International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC) Certifications preferred:
• Registered Roof Observer – RRO®
• Registered Building Enclosure Consultant – RBEC®
• Certified Building Enclosure Commissioning Provider- CBECxP®
• Other accredited building envelope certifications may be acceptable.
• Applicants immediately ready to sit for an enclosure certification will be considered.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• At least four years’ experience in assessing, detailing, construction oversight and testing building envelope systems or
equivalent.
• Practical knowledge of waterproofing, vapor barriers, air barriers, thermal barriers, below and above grade walls, flashing,
roofing, cladding, rain screens, and other related systems.
• A strong understanding of building science and the application of that knowledge to predict and solve issues related to
the building envelope.
• Experience predicting existing building envelope failures and performing analysis of existing building envelope failures.
• Designing systems or processes for existing buildings to repair building envelope failures.
• Proficient in developing and reviewing construction documents including details, specifications, shop drawings, and
submittals.
• Experience performing building envelope tests, both destructive and non-destructive.
• Knowledge and experience with ASTM / AAMA testing standards.
• Analysis of envelope using thermography and various other diagnostics tools.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Ability to work comfortably at height; includes rooftops, elevated platforms, scaffolding.
• Ability to lift and carry large, bulky, or heavy test equipment.
• Proficient with Autodesk suite, Microsoft Office suite, Adobe, Bluebeam Revu.
• Experience with modeling and commissioning software a plus.
