Head of Operations & Automation

250k+

Five Towns NY

Our client is seeking a highly strategic, technology-forward executive to redesign and improve the operating infrastructure supporting approximately 40 schools.

This is not a traditional operations or IT role. We are looking for a hands-on leader who can rethink how an organization operates, identify inefficiencies, leverage AI and automation, and turn new ideas into measurable improvements.Working directly alongside senior leadership, this person will redesign workflows, optimize staffing structures, centralize administrative functions where appropriate, and implement technology solutions that improve productivity, reduce costs, and support scalable growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate existing business operations, staffing structures, workflows, and departmental responsibilities across the organization.
  • Redesign operating processes to improve efficiency, eliminate redundancies, and reduce unnecessary expenses.
  • Identify functions that can be centralized across schools rather than handled independently at each location.
  • Identify opportunities to use AI, automation, software, and system integrations to reduce manual work.
  • Evaluate, select, and oversee the implementation of technology platforms and operational systems.
  • Establish performance metrics and accountability standards across key business functions.
  • Lead organizational transformation initiatives from initial planning through implementation and ongoing improvement.
  • Manage external technology vendors, implementation partners, and development teams as needed.
  • Work closely with executive leadership to prioritize initiatives and ensure successful adoption of new processes.
  • Measure the actual impact of implemented solutions on productivity, costs, accuracy, and overall performance.

Qualifications:

  • Significant experience in business operations, operational transformation, process improvement, or organizational design.
  • Demonstrated success redesigning complex business processes and implementing meaningful operational changes.
  • Strong understanding of modern technology, AI, automation, software platforms, and system integrations.
  • Ability to identify inefficiencies and translate business needs into practical, scalable solutions.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects and driving change across multiple departments or locations.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, project management, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to oversee technical teams and vendors without necessarily developing software personally.
  • Results-oriented mindset with a track record of delivering measurable improvements.

Ideal Candidate: A builder and executor who combines executive-level operational judgment with a strong understanding of technology and the ability to make major organizational changes happen.
