Director of Case Management
Families starting autism therapy need a clear path, not a stack of forms. As Director of Case Management, you will make custom ABA treatment possible in practice: timely starts, steady authorizations, trained parents, and fewer gaps between clinical intent and daily care. The quality of that system decides whether children stay in treatment long enough to progress.
Performance Objectives
- Stand up a case pathway that moves families from intake to authorized treatment start within published service standards.
- Lift initial and renewal authorization rates by tightening medical-necessity documentation, payer follow-up, and denial appeals.
- Reduce avoidable breaks in care by aligning BCBAs, technicians, schedulers, and families around staffing and continuity.
- Make parent training and paperwork support consistent so caregivers can explain goals, progress, and next steps.
- Run a weekly operating review of starts, utilization, denials, caseload risk, and family experience, and act on what the data shows.
- Coach case managers to resolve complex insurance and coordination issues before they delay treatment.
- Partner with clinical leadership so plans stay individualized, compliant, and fundable as the practice grows.
Environment & Resources
You will lead case management and report to senior operations or clinical leadership in a growth-stage, multi-site ABA practice. Daily partners include BCBAs, intake, scheduling, and billing. You will set workflows, quality standards, and staffing plans, with practice-management, authorization, and scheduling systems plus a defined budget for training and process improvement.
Essential Qualifications
- Led case management, care coordination, or utilization review in behavioral health, pediatrics, or a related clinical setting.
- Working knowledge of ABA delivery, treatment planning, and medical-necessity documentation.
- Improved authorization timelines, denial outcomes, or therapy start rates with evidence you can discuss.
- Managed a team through coaching, clear metrics, and a regular operating rhythm.
- Fluent in payer requirements, family communication, and HIPAA-compliant handling of clinical and insurance information.
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s in social work, counseling, healthcare administration, or a related field, or BCBA, preferred.
Role Selling Points
- Own the operating system behind custom treatment plans, parent training, and insurance navigation.
- Build standards in a growing practice where your model will scale with new families and sites.
- Lead work whose success is visible in whether a child starts therapy and stays in it.
- Join a mission-driven healthcare team focused on children with autism and the adults who support them.
If you can make complex care feel clear for families and reliable for clinicians, apply with one result you owned and the metric that moved.
