The Audit Manager is responsible for leading and managing audit engagements with a focus on healthcare operations, particularly within nursing home environments. This role ensures compliance with financial, operational, and regulatory standards, evaluates internal controls, and provides strategic recommendations to improve efficiency and mitigate risk. The Audit Manager supervises audit teams and collaborates with departments to promote transparency and accountability.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and oversee audits of financial and operational processes, with emphasis on long-term care and nursing home facilities
  • Evaluate internal controls and risk management systems specific to healthcare and elder care operations
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state healthcare regulations, including Medicare and Medicaid requirements
  • Prepare and present audit reports to senior management and regulatory bodies
  • Identify areas for operational improvement and recommend corrective actions
  • Supervise, train, and mentor audit staff
  • Coordinate with external auditors and healthcare compliance teams
  • Monitor the implementation of audit recommendations
  • Stay current with healthcare auditing standards and nursing home regulations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
  • CPA, CIA, or equivalent certification strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 6–8 years of audit experience, including supervisory responsibilities
  • At least 2–3 years of experience auditing nursing homes or long-term care facilities
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, SOX, and healthcare compliance frameworks
  • Familiarity with medical billing, coding, and reimbursement processes
