Our client, a growing commercial mortgage company based in Lakewood, NJ, is seeking a Commercial Mortgage Underwriter to join its team. This is a full-time, 100% in-office opportunity for someone with some experience in commercial mortgage underwriting, commercial lending, credit analysis, or financial analysis who is looking to continue developing their career in commercial real estate finance.

Responsibilities:

: • Review and analyze commercial mortgage loan applications and supporting documentation, including borrower financial statements, tax returns, credit reports, rent rolls, operating statements, and property appraisals.

• Evaluate borrower creditworthiness, property cash flow, collateral value, and overall loan risk

. • Analyze commercial real estate financials, including rental income, operating expenses, debt service coverage, and loan-to-value

• Identify missing information, inconsistencies, and potential risks; request additional documentation as needed.

• Assist in evaluating loan structures, terms, and repayment capacity in accordance with underwriting guidelines. • Prepare clear underwriting summaries and recommendations for loan approval, denial, or further review. • Work closely with loan originators, brokers, processors, and other team members to move transactions through the underwriting process.

• Maintain organized and accurate loan files and supporting documentation.

• Stay current on commercial lending guidelines, market conditions, and underwriting best practices.

Qualifications:

• Some experience in commercial mortgage underwriting, commercial lending, credit analysis, financial analysis, or a related field is required; extensive experience is not necessary

. • Understanding of commercial real estate finance and basic loan concepts. • Ability to review financial statements and assess borrower and property financials. • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.

• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills

. • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to work with financial data.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Position Details:

Full-time, 100% in-office position in Lakewood, NJ. This is a firm requirement; remote or hybrid work is not available. • Salary range: $60,000 - $100,000, depending on experience.
