Our client is seeking an experienced and detail oriented Financial Controller to oversee the company’s accounting operations, ensure the accuracy of financial records, and support strategic financial planning. This role will manage the full accounting function while performing final review and approvals on the work completed by the team of bookkeepers and accountants.
You will be responsible for maintaining strong financial controls, delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, and providing financial insights to support business decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations performed by the bookkeeping and accounting team, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
- Conduct final review and approvals of all accounting transactions, reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Manage and lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process to ensure timely and accurate financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow).
- Prepare and analyze financial reports to support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to management for strategic decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, including timely sales tax filings.
- Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with external accountants and auditors for year-end audits and tax filings.
- Maintain accurate records in QuickBooks and identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Manage key vendor relationships and review contracts as needed.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3+ years in a senior accountant or controller level role.
- Strong technical expertise in full cycle bookkeeping, month end close, and financial reporting.
- Experience reviewing and approving the work of bookkeepers and staff accountants.
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks (required); familiarity with other accounting systems is a plus.
- Solid knowledge of GAAP, tax compliance, and financial regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with high attention to detail.
