Salesperson
Monsey, Lakewood, or Brooklyn
$75,000 - $100,000
Our client builds electrical products that keep homes, shops, and job sites running. In a lean Brooklyn team, one salesperson who actually closes and follows through can open new accounts, protect margins, and fund the next product run. This role exists to turn conversations into purchase orders—not to fill a CRM with activity.
Responsibilities:
- Close $400K+ in new and repeat revenue in the first 12 months by selling core electrical and appliance lines to contractors, distributors, and independent retailers in the NYC metro and adjacent markets.
- Convert 30% of qualified first meetings into signed orders within 45 days by diagnosing the buyer’s job-site or inventory need and matching it to stock or configurable SKUs.
- Rebuild or expand 15 active accounts that have gone quiet, restoring average order value and on-time reorder cadence within two quarters.
- Deliver accurate weekly forecasts (±10%) and a clean pipeline so production and purchasing can plan without last-minute scrambles.
- Collect feedback from lost deals and field complaints and turn it into two documented product or packaging improvements per quarter that sales can use on the next call.
- Own the full cycle—prospect, quote, negotiate, close, and hand off to fulfillment—so nothing sits unsigned for more than five business days.
Environment & Resources
You report to the founder. Team of ~8–12. You get product samples, a modest demo kit, existing customer list, and direct access to production. No big marketing budget; your pipeline is built by showing up, following up, and knowing the spec sheet. Brooklyn-based with regular field time in the five boroughs and nearby counties.
Qualifications:
- Proven record of hitting or beating a territory or product quota selling physical goods (electrical, HVAC, building materials, appliances, or similar B2B) to trade or wholesale buyers.
- Comfort quoting from stock, explaining lead times, and negotiating price vs. volume without giving away margin.
- Ability to run a simple pipeline and forecast without a heavy CRM; you track what matters and show up prepared.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to be on job sites, in warehouses, and in showrooms several days a week.
- Clear, direct communicator who can talk specs with an electrician and terms with a purchasing manager.
Role Selling Points
- Small company: your closes are visible on the P&L the same week.
- Direct line to the person who can change a SKU or a price if the market demands it.
- Early-stage manufacturer in Brooklyn—you help decide which accounts and products get built next.
- No layers of process; you own the relationship from first call to repeat order.
