The Scheduler is responsible for coordinating and managing the production schedule for the manufacturing facility, ensuring that production runs efficiently, orders are fulfilled on time, and resources are optimized. The Scheduler will collaborate closely with various departments, including production, materials, and logistics, to create and adjust production schedules based on customer demands, inventory levels, and capacity constraints.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Production Scheduling:
  • Develop and maintain the production schedule to ensure that all manufacturing orders are completed on time and in alignment with customer demands and deadlines.
  • Coordinate the timing of raw material deliveries, production runs, and finished goods shipments to ensure seamless flow and minimal downtime.
  • Monitor production progress and adjust the schedule as needed to address delays, equipment issues, or changing customer requirements.
  1. Material and Resource Coordination:
  • Work closely with the procurement team to ensure that the required materials and components are available for production.
  • Coordinate with production managers and department leads to ensure that labor, equipment, and other resources are appropriately allocated to meet production goals.
  • Maintain an understanding of inventory levels to ensure that materials are ordered in a timely manner and avoid stock outs or overstock situations.
  1. Monitoring and Reporting:
  • Track production performance and communicate progress, delays, or issues to management.
  • Generate and maintain reports on production efficiency, inventory status, order fulfillment, and any potential delays or disruptions.
  • Provide daily, weekly, or monthly reports on production status, including key metrics such as output, downtime, and backlog.
  1. Problem-Solving and Issue Resolution:
  • Identify potential scheduling conflicts or delays early and work proactively with team members to resolve issues.
  • Troubleshoot production or material delays and work with the team to reassign resources or adjust the schedule to minimize impact.
  • Act as a liaison between production teams and other departments to resolve bottlenecks or unanticipated challenges.
  1. Collaboration and Communication:
  • Communicate regularly with production, quality control, logistics, and procurement teams to ensure alignment on schedules and priorities.
  • Serve as the point of contact for any production scheduling concerns or requests, including customer order changes or rush orders.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to schedule preventative maintenance and equipment downtime without disrupting production.
  1. Capacity and Forecasting:
  • Assess production capacity and provide input into future production planning, based on trends, historical data, and forecasted demand.
  • Ensure the production schedule reflects current capacity, anticipated changes in demand, and maintenance requirements.
  • Assist in analyzing production bottlenecks and recommend scheduling changes or process improvements to optimize efficiency.
  1. Continuous Improvement:
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts within the scheduling process by identifying and recommending best practices or technological solutions.
  • Evaluate current scheduling tools and processes to identify opportunities for improvements in accuracy and efficiency.
  • Support the adoption of Lean or other operational efficiency initiatives in the scheduling process.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in scheduling or production planning, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with manufacturing software systems (e.g., ERP systems, MRP systems, or other production management tools) is highly preferred.
  • Skills:
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to react quickly and decisively to changes in the production schedule.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid communication skills, both written and verbal, to coordinate with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or other scheduling software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar systems).
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
