Lathe Operator (CNC Setup & Production)

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled CNC Lathe Operator who can independently set up, operate CNC lathe machine to produce precision parts that meet quality and production standards. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot machining issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathe machines, including tooling, fixtures, and work offsets
• Load programs, edit offsets, and make adjustments as needed
• Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and job travelers
• Measure and inspect parts using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
• Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections to ensure quality standards are met
• Monitor machine performance and make real-time adjustments to maintain tolerances
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and dimensional issues
• Perform routine machine maintenance and keep work area clean and organized
• Follow all safety, quality, and production procedures

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience operating CNC lathes (setup experience required)
• Strong understanding of CNC machining principles and cutting tools
• Ability to read blueprints and understand tolerances and GD&T
• Experience with precision measuring instruments
• Basic knowledge of G-code editing preferred
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong problem-solving and attention to detail

Preferred Skills

• Experience with multi-axis or live-tooling lathes
• Experience with bar feeders and part catchers
• Familiarity with ISO or AS9100 quality systems
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training a plus
