APPLICATIONS ENGINEER
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Applications Engineer is responsible for configuring new customer orders received prior to the orders being entered. This entails working with the Sales Team and the customer to understand the application and gathering the information necessary to produce the right products for the applications.
1. Determine feasibility of opportunities presented by Sales.
2. Work with Sales Team and customer to gather application information in order to configure the equipment for the Sales Order
3. Obtain product and bag/film samples from customer at time order and work with Engineering and Sales to ensure that equipment specified will accommodate customer’s needs
4. Develop Statement of Work to Engineering for orders requiring customization
5. Engaged with Sales, Manufacturing, and Tech support throughout the order cycle, providing support as needed.
6. Coordinate and participate in identifying effective methods of achieving the customers’ objectives, creating customizations as needed.
7. Coordinate and participate in the testing of solutions during the order cycle.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
1. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or demonstrated and equivalent combination of education and related technical experience.
2. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an electro-mechanical product manufacturing environment.
3. Exceptional communication skills (persuasive and influential).
4. Must be technically proficient to handle issues relating to product development and customer applications.
5. Hands-on customer interaction with the ability to truly define and understand the needs of the customer.
6. Financial analysis skills (budget, margin, ROI analysis).
7. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
8. Must be proficient in working with computer applications including, but not limited to:
a. ERP Systems
b. Google Apps
c. Word
d. Excel (power user, including ability to create pivot tables and regression analyses)
e. SQL
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EDUCATION
1. Degree in Engineering
2. Experience in Project Management
