Logistics:

  • Candidate location: Jacksonville, FL preferred but not required. East Coast hours locations are preferred. 
  • Work is 100% remote

Travel

This resource will need to be flexible to travel as needed. No % is required, travel will be minimal but exposure to the field will be occasional and will be at a professional sporting event.



Web Engineer - Python/JavaScript

This software engineer will focus on building the presentation layer of complex scoring applications for professional sports using Python as the primary language. Data collected from scoring is stored in a XML database and this team builds, maintains, and evolves the end-user display/visual component interfacing and collaborating with a C++ engineering team. The primary focus of this team is greenfield development, even if rebuilding legacy applications.


Additional primary technical details of this role include:

  • XML – traversing/querying data (utilization of XPath)
  • Leveraging JavaScript and assisting in the adoption of modern utilization to include strategy and execution of Angular, React, and/or Node
  • SQL or other relational database experience
  • Visual Studio
  • Unit Testing
  • Client side scripting


Tier 1 responsibilities:

  • Author well-designed and testable code
  • Document and maintain software functionality
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems
  • Ensure software is updated with latest features
  • Ensure source code is checked-in regularly
  • Design and develop test cases


Tier 2 responsibilities:

  • Integrate software components into a fully functional system
  • Develop software verification plans and quality assurance procedures as needed
  • Monitor system performance


Required experience:

Our client is looking for 3+ years of experience, as a reference point.

  • Python
  • XML
  • JavaScript
  • Relational database experience (normal utilization expectations for a developer)
  • Unit testing
  • Client side-scripting


Helpful experience (not required):

  • Angular or React
  • Node
  • There are some applications written in C#, so experience is valued
  • Knowledge of sports, rules, and scoring


Direct Reports: This role will have no direct reports.


Salary: 120k target max
