Work Logistics:

  • Candidate location - Jacksonville, FL preferred but not required. East Coast hours locations are preferred.

This resource will need to be flexible to travel as needed. No % is required, travel will be minimal but exposure to the field will be occasional and will be at a professional sporting event.

C++ Software Engineer

The C++ Software Engineer will partner with a tenured and talented team of software engineers who are focused on building, maintaining, and enhancing modern and intelligent scoring systems for professional sports. The apps are the engine and logic to data capture, consumption, and display. Sports include but are not limited to golf, tennis, cross fit, marathons, and the Olympics.


  • Participates in program design and receives assistance from Senior Systems Analyst and reviews for understanding
  • Confers with Senior Systems Analyst on program design specs and, under direction of Senior Systems Analyst converts into code.
  • Tests and works with assistance from Senior Systems Analyst to debug program.
  • May train IDS personnel on the use and operation of applications with which they have been involved.
  • Under direction of the Senior System Analyst, makes modifications or updates to software to meet customer or users’ needs.
  • Update and modify technical documentation as directed by the development staff.
  • Works independently and without direct supervision on most projects


  • BS Computer Science, Engineering or related field required
  • Must have 3+ years previous professional experience with C++ or C
  • You will be writing C++ 17, soon to be 2022
  • Object-Oriented methodologies
  • Visual Studio
  • Previous experience with graphical user interfaces

There are NO requirements around what libraries, compilers, or frameworks you have used. SMT is looking for a solid engineer who is interested in the work in industry to join the team.

Direct Reports: This role will have no direct reports. Subject to change.


  • Level I: Target max 80k

The Interview:

You will meet with the Director of Software Engineering for a hands-on assessment and technical conversation. The assessment will be language specific to the candidate - C, C++, Python, Java, etc. and will serve to decipher your approach to solving the problem and most importantly, why you chose to solve it the way you did. You will be given a small application/header file and tasked with completing functions that may or may not include various data structures, manipulate arrays, and memory management.

You may later expect to have conversation with Human Resources, as a formality and a time to discuss employee related policies such as benefits prior to an offer.
