Service Manager – Higher Education Food Service

Concept: University Dining Services

Salary: $62,000-68,000


Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality management or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • Demonstrated experience in a supervisory capacity within the food service industry, ideally in high-volume, customer-facing environments
  • Strong customer service expertise with proven ability to resolve complaints and address concerns effectively
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities during peak service periods
  • Proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving capabilities


Job Responsibilities

As the Service Manager, you will oversee all front-of-house dining operations, ensuring an exceptional experience for students, faculty, and staff. This Service Manager position requires implementing and maintaining elevated customer service standards across all dining facilities.


In this Service Manager, you will supervise, train, and schedule service staff while promoting a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and adherence to established service protocols. You'll monitor service quality consistently to ensure compliance with university guidelines and industry best practices.


The Service Manager will address customer feedback promptly and professionally, utilizing strong conflict resolution skills to maintain a positive dining atmosphere. Additionally, you'll collaborate closely with kitchen and procurement teams to manage inventory of service items—including utensils, dishware, and condiments—ensuring adequate supply levels while minimizing waste.
