Description

Under general supervision, maintains a commercial loan portfolio of secured and unsecured loans and lines of credit; provides a superior level of customer service to all current and prospective customers and tracks a variety of systems to ensure compliance with the loan agreement covenants. Employees in this job class handle routine to complex types of loans and retain current customers. Resolves a variety of customer problems and makes credit decisions within established lending limits.


Essential Functions

  1. Relationship Management/Portfolio Management
  • Follows up on current credits to ensure compliance with terms and conditions, reviews collateral reports to ensure margin requirements are maintained, assesses transaction risk and assigns appropriate risk grade, and takes appropriate action to collect delinquencies.
  • Maintains new and existing deposit relationships while serving as the central point of contact for assigned commercial banking relationships.
  • Provides consistent high quality and professional service.

2. Credit Reviews/Analysis

  • Reviews and analyzes financial data and other relevant information to determine each customer’s eligibility for credit within established underwriting standards and lending policies.
  • Negotiates and structures new and renewed commercial loans; prepares and documents current applications; approves and declines credit within established limits; submits applications for credit exceeding limits to appropriate bank officer.
  • Serves as a mentor and provides consistent training and feedback to RMs, Credit Analysts & Credit Associates in an effort to maintain a risk focused approach to credit analysis.
  • Ensures that all approved Credit Authorizations succinctly and cogently address the key credit issues.
  • Identifies and takes appropriate action in a timely manner to improve the Bank’s position with regards to problem loans in assigned portfolio.

3. Compliance/CRA

  • Ensures credits are in compliance with bank policies and procedures.
  • Participates actively in community activities to enhance the bank’s image, visibility and to reinforce the bank’s commitment to CRA.
  • Maintains a current knowledge of bank regulations. Ensures compliance with all Federal, State and bank policies, procedures and regulations.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor degree in business and/or finance from an accredited college or equivalent work experience.
  2. Minimum of five years proven and progressive experience in financial or banking services in commercial lending.
  3. Knowledge of accounting, financial statement and cash flow analysis. Excellent communication (both written and verbal), interpersonal and problem solving skills. Proficiency in personal computers and related software.
