Certified Development Corporation is a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization that supports economic development by making available low cost, fixed rate commercial and industrial real estate financing to expanding small businesses under the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) 504 Loan Program. We are licensed and regulated by the U.S. Small Business Administration to provide SBA 504 financing and work in partnership with a wide range of lending institutions.

Areas of responsibility

·        Marketing & Prospecting:  Works within a designated marketing team and market to generate leads for SBA 504 loans to potential borrowers, third party lender partners (banks), commercial real estate brokers and other referral sources.

·        Facilitating Opportunities:  Obtaining initial loan information:  screening for 504 program eligibility, performing initial credit analysis to determine borrower/project feasibility, developing financing structure in collaboration with credit administrator/underwriter, communicating proposed financing structure to applicant and participating lender.

·        Closing: Obtaining required information from applicant and partner bank, maintains communication with applicant and lender throughout the approval process, and obtains borrowers signature on Authorization for Debenture Guaranty.

Overall position objective

Assist the designated marketing team in meeting or exceeding production goals, while developing experience and demonstrated capability to bring in new production meet and exceed individual production goals.

General responsibilities

  1) Marketing & Prospecting (35%)

a.   Assisting with marketing strategy development

b.   Establishing new referral source relationships

c.   Maintaining and strengthening existing referral relationship

d.   Participating in team marketing activities

Key success factors:  Demonstrated results of incremental production from referral sources.

  2) Facilitating Opportunities (25%)

a.   Establish strong trust relationship with prospects

b.   Effectively vet projects for eligibility and credit worthiness

c.   Act as liaison between client, back-room and other parties involved in the project

Key success factors:  Demonstrated results of incremental production from referral sources & demonstrated performance satisfaction by involved parties.

  3) Closing (25%)

a.   Facilitate the collection of documents and information required for underwriting and SBA approval as per the back room.

b.   Act as project manager for loans applications to ensure deadlines are met within the overall pipeline priorities.

c.   Support the loan closing process as needed as liaison between client, back-room, and other involved parties.

  4) Administrative (15%)

a.   Optimize use of designated document collection and loan origination technology

b.   Keep pipeline management system updated.

c.   Contribute to ongoing strategy development and pipeline prioritization.

Key success factors:  Consistency meeting deadlines for recordkeeping, and contributing to ongoing marketing strategy, execution and pipeline management.

Professional Skills, Education and Experience

·        Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, economics or finance related field from a recognized college or university – or – equivalent qualifying experience in sales.

·        Minimum 3-5 years of sales experience, preferably in finance products or services.

·        General knowledge of commercial or small business credit, preferably in a mission based or SBA loan department.

·        Market connections and network of business contacts.

·        Working knowledge of Microsoft office.

·        Excellent sales techniques and presentation skills with an ability to educate key audiences on a variety of lending programs and advantages to working with CDC.

·        Proven track record of prospecting new businesses and developing referral networks.

·        Possession of a valid Driver’s License.
