Sales Engineer – Metalworking Cutting Tools


Territory: Nebraska & Western Iowa

Position Summary

We are seeking a technical Sales Engineer to drive growth across Nebraska and Western Iowa. This is a highly consultative role focused on supporting distribution partners while working directly with end users to optimize machining processes and deliver value through advanced tooling solutions.

The ideal candidate combines strong machining knowledge with a passion for sales and customer problem-solving.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and grow sales within the assigned territory through both distribution partners and direct end-user engagement
  • Provide technical support and application expertise on solid carbide cutting tools (drills, end mills, reamers, etc.)
  • Conduct onsite customer visits to evaluate machining processes and recommend tooling improvements
  • Partner with distributors to drive joint sales calls, training, and territory development
  • Identify and convert new business opportunities while expanding existing accounts
  • Deliver product demonstrations, tool trials, and performance evaluations
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts, and activity reports
  • Stay current on industry trends, competitive products, and machining technologies


Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in metalworking, machining, or cutting tool sales/applications
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, tooling, and materials
  • Experience working with or through industrial distribution channels
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and improve machining performance
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage a territory independently
  • Willingness to travel throughout Nebraska and Western Iowa


Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in solid carbide round tools
  • Hands-on machining experience (programming, setup, or operation)
  • Experience supporting industries such as aerospace, medical, automotive, or general machining
