District Sales Manager – Welding Equipment


Territory: Multi-State Midwest & Central Region

Industry: Welding Equipment Manufacturing

Travel: ~80% (primarily regional)

Position Summary

The District Sales Manager (DSM) is responsible for driving sales growth across an assigned multi-state territory. This role focuses on developing and supporting distributor relationships, expanding market share, and working closely with end users to improve productivity and application performance. The ideal candidate has strong welding knowledge, thrives in a field-based sales environment, and operates independently with a high level of accountability.

Candidates must reside within the assigned territory.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of the company’s products, features, benefits, and applications to effectively support distributors and end users
  • Partner with welding supply distributors to grow sales, provide technical support, and drive joint sales initiatives
  • Identify, develop, and follow up on new business opportunities to increase market share
  • Support distributor open houses, trade shows, and regional industry events as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activity, customer interactions, and opportunities using CRM software
  • Prepare and submit bi-weekly expense reports in accordance with company policy
  • Meet or exceed sales targets developed collaboratively with sales leadership
  • Independently manage territory schedules and travel to maximize sales effectiveness
  • Ensure company equipment and assets are properly maintained
  • Represent the company with professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct at all times
  • Respond promptly to customer, distributor, and internal communications
  • Apply mechanical and electrical knowledge to support welding applications and review technical specifications as needed


Qualifications

  • Prior sales experience within the welding industry or a closely related industrial market required
  • Strong welding knowledge and application understanding critical
  • Familiarity with MIG, TIG, and automated/robotic welding preferred
  • Ability to read and understand technical specifications and product documentation
  • Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently
  • Strong communication skills with both internal teams and external partners
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and CRM systems
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to travel extensively within the territory (approximately 80%)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to obtain a passport if required
