The Metalworking Specialist will work closely with customers, supplier partners, and the commercial team to deliver value-added solutions and build lasting relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess customer needs and recommend tooling solutions to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and supplier partners to support business development efforts.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of prospects through networking, referrals, and outreach.
  • Provide tooling alternatives and application advice with a focus on cost savings and performance.
  • Capture RFQs and orders from new and existing accounts.
  • Document activities, pipeline updates, and opportunities in CRM software.
  • Submit cost savings reports and project documentation as required.
  • Stay current with product training, technical knowledge, and application trends.
  • Strategically plan and manage the territory for long-term growth.
  • Participate in training sessions, sales meetings, and industry events (overnight travel required).

Qualifications

Required:

  • In-depth knowledge of metalworking products (cutting tools, oils, coolants, lubricants).
  • Hands-on CNC machining experience.
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to interpret tooling and machining requirements.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage a field-based schedule.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook).
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel overnight as needed.

Preferred:

  • Outside sales experience in industrial or MRO distribution.
  • Experience working directly with manufacturing customers in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical certifications or machining coursework are a plus.
