 
  Area Sales Manager (Southeast US)
OVERVIEW:
The Area Sales Manager generates sales and supports our sales and marketing efforts across their region by building strong customer and industry relationships in the territory to achieve company objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
· Direct, guide and manage sales and distribution network partners supporting the sales region. Assess and evaluate distribution partners (existing and new), and recommend necessary changes/additions to maximize sales potential in the region.
· Develop and implement sales programs in the specified sales region to meet and/or grow sales with current customers and create opportunities for developing sales with new customers.
· Evaluate and recommend product and service requests to grow sales while performing within guidelines and budget constraints. Coordinate efforts with the Marketing Team, as necessary.
· Meet or exceed annual regional sales goals and objectives by managing sales and lead development.
· Develop and deliver sales and product training presentations and close sales in a professional and effective manner by finding and implementing solutions to problems as they arise.
· Research customer needs to develop application of product offerings for various product lines in support of the annual business plan.
· Direct channel development activity and coordinate sales distribution by assisting with the development and attainment of regional sales quotas and goals.
· Review and identify market trends to assist with pricing, margins, and discounts.
· Monitor and assess the effectiveness of sales partners and their ability to gain market share through effective selling techniques, customer feedback, and sales results.
· Prepare sales reports that identify sales volumes, potential sales, areas of proposed client base expansion, and other relevant information in the assigned region.
· Prepare timely Visit Reports as required to document Customer Meetings and Visits.
· Utilize Salesforce to monitor and manage Leads, Potentials, Pipelines, Marcom Requests, Calls and Visits.
· Represent the company at trade shows, association functions, dealer summits, open houses, training classes, and community events to build the company’s image and reputation in targeted industries and businesses.
· Provide and present feedback as necessary to guide product enhancements and market development efforts.
· Maintain an up-to-date understanding of competitor’s activities in the region, industry trends, government regulations and technical developments related to the cutting tool industry and its markets.
· Report all sales-related expenditures in the region in a timely manner to ensure compliance with company policies and adherence to budgetary considerations.
· Prepare Proposed Travel Schedules as required and travel to company, customer and other destinations as needed to fulfill responsibilities (min 60%).
· Other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience and Skills:
· A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or another related field.
· Must currently reside in or be willing to relocate to one of the following states: Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Oklahoma, or Texas.
· 3 to 5 years of sales experience in an industrial product environment, preferably a commodity item such as cutting tools, burs, abrasives, or other similar consumable goods.
· Excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills needed to interface with customers.
· Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
· Able to analyze, forecast and prepare budgets within given constraints; including calculating figures and amounts such as discount, interest, commissions, and percentages.
· Ability to effectively multitask and manage priorities in a fast-paced, constantly changing collaborative and team-based environment, including the use of mobile communication devices.
· Proficient in MS Office suite products including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
· Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
