Senior People Officer (HR)

About the role

The Senior People Officer runs the full HR function and takes people issues off the owner's desk. This is a hands-on leadership role: you lead the team, handle the hard employee cases yourself, and tell the owner what should happen next.

  • Reports to: Owner
  • Team: 5 direct reports at head-of-department level, covering HRM, HRD and Talent Acquisition
  • HR system: Empreo

Key responsibilities

Employee relations (main focus)

  • Own all employee relations issues from start to finish: complaints, disputes, conflicts and difficult people cases
  • Negotiate with employees and close cases without the owner having to step in
  • Know when and how to use leverage and bargaining power to reach a fair outcome for the company
  • Handle sensitive exits, settlements and agreements in line with Thai labour law
  • Build trust with staff on the floor so problems surface early, not after they grow

HR management

  • Set, update and enforce company rules and regulations
  • Run the disciplinary process, including verbal and written warnings
  • Manage absence, leave and lateness, and act on patterns rather than just report them
  • Work closely with payroll so attendance, deductions and pay are accurate

HR development

  • Plan and drive skills training for technicians and production staff
  • Make sure training links to real gaps in quality, output or retention

Talent acquisition

  • Guide the TA lead on hiring priorities and the quality of hires
  • Keep key roles filled, especially skilled technical positions

HR system and team

  • Use Empreo fully for attendance, leave, records and payroll data
  • Coach the 5 department heads and hold them to clear standards

Partner to the owner

  • Look ahead and bring the owner options, not just data
  • Spot people risks early and propose what to do about them
  • Turn HR data into decisions the owner can act on

What success looks like

Success means the owner no longer has to deal with employee problems personally. Within the first 6 to 12 months:

  • Employee cases get closed at HR level, with the owner only informed, not involved
  • Rules are applied the same way across the company, and staff respect them
  • The owner gets a clear view of people risks and what to do next, not just attendance reports
  • The HR team works on its own with clear ownership in each area

This role is not about sending reports on absence and lateness. It needs someone who can read people, handle pressure, and move things forward.

Who we're looking for

  • 10+ years in HR, with at least 5 years leading an HR team
  • Deep, hands-on experience in employee relations, ideally in manufacturing or with a large technical workforce
  • A strong negotiator who stays calm and can close difficult cases
  • Solid knowledge of Thai labour law and disciplinary practice
  • Mature, firm and fair; comfortable making calls without waiting for the owner
  • Thinks ahead and brings ideas, not only numbers
  • Experience with Empreo is a strong plus
  • Fluent Thai; working English
