Facilities & Maintenance Engineer – Cutting-Edge Biopharma
We're partnering with a leading UK-based biopharmaceutical company that is rapidly advancing in the gene therapy space, and they're looking for a key individual to join their expanding team in London, UK.
This is an exceptional opportunity to be part of an organisation that has established an internal manufacturing facility for Advanced Therapies, aiming for Phase 3 and commercial supply for its in-house programmes. You'll play a crucial role in maintaining and optimising a diverse range of utility services and cutting-edge manufacturing equipment.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Supporting site capital projects from a utility and facility installation and commissioning perspective.
- Overseeing service contractor activities for planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance, including managing EHS permitting.
- Assisting with the continuous development and implementation of the internal and external PPM schedule, ensuring strict adherence.
- Ensuring the availability and reliability of building utilities, services, and manufacturing equipment to support operational plans.
- Maintaining all current statutory, regulatory, and company safety and quality standards, including cGMP, Quality Systems, and Health and Safety.
- Assisting with the identification and implementation of solutions to reduce overall cost-per-unit measures.
- Ensuring your work complies with GMP, Data Integrity, and Good Documentation Practice (GDP), and that all assigned GMP documentation (e.g., Issues, CAPAs, Change Controls) is closed in a timely and Right First Time (RFT) manner.
What You'll Bring:
To succeed in this vital role, you'll need:
- A minimum of 5-7 years of experience working in a highly regulated environment, with a focus on planning, execution, and supervision of Facility, Process, or Maintenance engineering.
- At least 3 years of experience working specifically within a Biopharma Cleanroom facility.
- A comprehensive practical and theoretical background in a wide range of industrial plants, cleanroom services, and utility equipment (e.g., compressed air, Oxygen, HVAC).
- Proven experience in implementing engineering techniques in both general industrial and cleanroom standards.
- A Degree in an engineering discipline or a relevant trade certificate.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, with a track record of identifying and resolving issues effectively.
- A commitment to quality management, with an eye for continuous improvement and accuracy.
- A proactive approach to ensuring all work adheres to Pharmaceutical Regulations and Health & Safety Executive guidelines.
- Knowledge of Calibration methodologies and planning is desirable.
